WSUP 90.5FM

University of Wisconsin Platteville

WSUP is the oldest college radio station in Wisconsin with 1000 watts of broadcasting power and can be heard as far away as Dubuque, Iowa. WSUP's main format is alternative rock but it also has a sprinkling of specialty shows.

"Sunday Musicale" (classical) and In "The Swing Of Things" (ska) are just two of their different presentations. To find out about other shows and air times check out their Webpage.

WSUP's program director this year is Chris Schreiner who works on the air as 'The Flounder". Chris has worked at WSUP for three and 1/2 years and is a senior at the university majoring in broadcast production.

Chris explains his main duties as program director are "not only listening to all the new material but also dealing with the on air staff for the specialty shows.

When asked about his strangest experience at WSUP, Chris replied, " The week two different people aired Anarchy In The U.K. for two hours straight. The weird part is the second time no one noticed." The most fun Chris has had on the air is the time he insulted Vanilla Ice during an interview until he hung up.

Currently the #1 album on WSUP is "John Spencer's Blues Explosion", followed closely by "Jets To Brazil". Also a local band, One Lard Bisquit, has been getting a lot of airplay as " the best thing to come out of Platteville since the "85 Bears".

You can hear WSUP at 90.5FM or check out their website at vms.www.uwplatt/wsup. If you want to ask Chris about the station or him, you can check out his homepage.
